Junior Product Manager – Payments (m/f/d)

Our client is an international group of companies in the area of e-commerce infrastructure and order management. The place of employment is Esslingen am Neckar; The collaboration is organized as a distributed team setup with asynchronous communication and is designed as a permanent, full-time position.

In terms of content, you will work on topics related to payments: zero trust principles, IAM standards and auditable documentation as part of the engineering process. The team attaches great importance to high quality standards, constructive feedback and practical collaboration as well as an excellent developer experience.

Your tasks

  • You take on responsibility in the payments environment and deliver measurable results – from planning to stable operations.
  • You drive refactoring and technical modernization, reduce technical debt and improve the developer experience through pragmatic standards and tooling.
  • You take end-to-end ownership of features or services – from requirements recording through design/implementation to stable handover into productive operation.
  • You create understandable documentation, promote knowledge exchange (pairing, reviews, brown bags) and support teammates with onboarding.
  • You establish and live quality standards (code reviews, automated tests, definition of done) and ensure comprehensible, maintainable and expandable solutions.
  • You will participate in architectural and technology decisions and introduce best practices to increase stability, security and scalability in the long term.
  • You will work closely with Product, Security, Data and Operations and ensure that data protection, compliance and security requirements are taken into account at an early stage.
  • You consistently implement observability (logging, metrics, tracing), derive concrete improvements from incidents and sustainably reduce error classes (RCA/problem management).
  • You analyze business and technical requirements, translate them into implementable user stories/epics and coordinate dependencies transparently with all stakeholders.
  • You automate build, test and deployment (CI/CD) processes and continuously improve the team's deliverability, release stability and time to market.

Your profile

  • You have relevant experience in payments and can lead complex projects into implementation in a structured manner.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills – you can systematically identify causes and derive sustainable improvements (RCA).
  • Several years of experience in a comparable role with proven success in implementing complex projects in production-critical environments.
  • Team-oriented work in cross-functional setups; You give constructive feedback, share knowledge and actively contribute to the further development of the team.
  • Experience in cloud/container environments and a solid understanding of operations, monitoring and security fundamentals in distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and moderation skills in order to clarify requirements, involve stakeholders and convey technical topics in an understandable manner.
  • Practice with modern toolchains (Git, CI/CD, testing) as well as the willingness to set standards and measurably improve quality in the team.
  • Very good understanding of software architecture, interfaces (API design) and data models as well as the ability to justify technical decisions in a comprehensible manner.
  • Structured, independent way of working with an ownership mentality - you prioritize sensibly, communicate risks early and deliver reliably.
